This is shuttle image STS60-101-39, taken in February 1994. In this image you can see the transformation of Laguna Salada back into a dry lake. The characteristic "bath tub ring" evaporation is clearly visible. Also of interest is how clearly the irrigated agricultural fields stand out in contrast to the natural desert vegetation of the area. The boundary between the United States and Mexico is also clearly visible (look for the abrupt change in size and orientation of the agricultural fields.) |
