THE ARAL SEA

Agent Orange was used extensively in the Aral Basin as a defoliating agent for the cotton crops. This toxic substance, infamous for its use in Vietnam, was sprayed directly on the people while they picked the cotton.

At this time, approximately 25% of the people living in the agricultural region, near the Aral Sea, are mentally retarded. The number of children born with birth defects is also astonishingly high.
