This image was created using ER Mapper. The Geo-SPOT images were provided by the
MIL (Map and Imagery Lab) at UC Santa Barbara. The original image of the Salton Sea is a
photograph taken from the space shuttle. It was retrieved from the EarthRise database,
and imported into ER Mapper. The shuttle image was georeferenced using the Geo-SPOT mosaic
of the Salton
Sea region (which was also imported into ER Mapper.) The USGS (United States Geological
Survey) 7.5 minute DEM was obtained from the USGS web page and imported into ER Mapper. The
shuttle image was mosaiced with the DEM and the SPOT mosaic. This algorithm was viewed on
the Indigo 2 SGI, "Mufasa" at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. The screen image
was captured and you are viewing a low resolution version of that.
