More than 8000 GIS specialists from around the world met in San Diego for
the annual GIS users conference. The conference was held from July 27-31 at
the San Diego Convention Center.
Outside of the Exhibition Hall, on the main floor.
Part of the conference included a poster session to showcase geographic
information system (GIS) applications. The La Costa Canyon High School
poster focused on a year long study of ecological succession after the 1976
Harmony Grove fire. The poster consisted of a series of maps displaying
species distribution and an analysis of chemical testing of the burn site.
All data was student generated. These maps will serve as a baseline
comparison for this longitudinal study.
