Dave Reynolds' Middle School Science Classroom
Ramona, California
During the 1997-1998 school year, Visualizing Earth revisited Mr. Dave Reynolds'
classroom at Olive Peirce Middle School in Ramona, California.
Above, Mr. Reynolds gives the students background information about seismic
waves before they go to work on the program, Epicenter.
To the left is the screen that the students used to create their own earthquakes. They
controlled when the earth quake occured, where it occured, and how strong it was.
Above, the students discover and discuss the differences in seismograms taken from different
seismic stations. To the left is a seismogram from a station very near the epicenter of the earthquake.
To the right is a seismogram from a station farther away from the earthquake's epicenter.
