Dave Reynolds was
a Visualizing Earth teacher for all three years of the project. Here he is
presenting the series of geology lessons he co-designed with Holly Dodson.
Students began the first day with a model building activity in which they built
models of Mount Woodson, a 2984 foot peak visible from the classroom. The students used
topographic maps to build accurate models of the mountain.
Above, you can see the students' models in various degrees of completion. In
this exercise the students learned how to extract 3-dimensional information
from a two dimensional map.
